Please send me the procedure to test the AA level in the pet bottles and the necessary instruments and ASTM number to check AA Level in pet bottle
Thanks & Regards

What should be the ideal dry air flow rate for dehumidifying drying of PET? Different dryer supplier had given different data. Pl. let me know the exact required air flow rate in terms of kg/hr PET consumption.What are the different influencing factor for determining the air flow rate?

Some importants notes on AA (Acetaldehyde) level:
1. AA level is a particular problem in water bottles. As the taste mineral water/pure water is too weak to mask the flavour of AA if it level is too high. So it is easier for the consumer to notice the presence of AA which they don't like. For sure, this affects sales.
2. AA is generated during melt-process (over 260 Celius temperature). Drying (160 Celius) is not related to AA generation.
3. To reduce AA level:
3.1. Reduce melt temperature;
3.2. Reduce residence time inside barrel;
3.3. Choose the right PET resin specifically tailored to the needs of water containers; Some PET resin is blended with AA scavengers, which will lock AA into the polymer matrix so that it cannot migrate into the product;
3.4. Low IV minimises AA generation. But you have to find out a proper balance between low AA levels and high performance, as "low IV" == "low molecular weight" == Low mechanical properties.
